Marcus Thuram hints at summer exit amid Manchester United links

Marcus Thuram is talking like someone preparing to leave Borussia Monchengladbach this summer.

The French forward has done an exclusive interview with the Bundesliga website (via Bild) amid constant speculation over his future.

After four years at Borussia Monchengladbach, Thuram said: “For me personally, the past four years have been fantastic. I came here as a young player and I’ve developed tremendously. It was outstanding to compete in the Champions League with Borussia and to play our way into the national team through good performances.

“I owe this club a lot and I will never forget what they have done for me. Borussia will always have a special place in my heart.”

The uncertainty surrounding Thuram’s contract stems from the fact his current deal expires this summer, so the France international will be available as a free transfer.

Thuram has been linked with a move to Manchester United since getting a call-up to the France squad for the 2022 World Cup, but he is also believed to be attracting interest from other clubs around Europe such as AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

With 13 goals to his name this season, Thuram is currently ranked fourth in the Bundesliga top goalscorer charts (via BBC Sport) — the same amount as Serge Gnabry and Christopher Nkunku. He also has five assists to his name in the league.
