Manchester United learn Brentford’s asking price for David Raya

Manchester United find out how much Brentford want for star goalkeeper David Raya.

David de Gea’s position as Manchester United’s number one goalkeeper could be in doubt next season if Erik ten Hag signs a new goalkeeper this summer.

While De Gea looks set to sign a new contract at Old Trafford, the Reds have been linked with a number of goalkeepers ahead of the upcoming transfer window, including Brentford’s David Raya.

De Gea was at fault for West Ham’s goal on Sunday that cost United vital points in the race for a Champions League spot. To make matters worse, he equalled Hugo Lloris’ tally (4) for most errors leading to a goal this season.

It is believed that De Gea won’t get any assurances over game time with his new deal, which means Ten Hag is likely to phase him out in the coming years — if not next season.

According to Sky Sports, Brentford have drawn up a three-man shortlist of potential replacements for Raya, who they believe is worth £40 million.

Raya has one year left on his contract at Brentford and he has rejected two offers to remain at the club. That would suggest that the writing is on the wall for Raya and he will look to join a club in the Champions League this summer.

This has led to Brentford planning ahead too sign a new goalkeeper. The three names mentioned by Sky Sports include Alban Lafont, Mark Flekken and Caoimhin Kelleher.
