Chris Sutton can’t see Tottenham keeping a clean sheet against United

Tottenham are a mess right now and Manchester United should be kicking them out of the race for top four tonight.

The two teams meet in the Premier League tonight and Tottenham go into the game on the back of a 6-1 defeat against Newcastle.

Spurs have won just three of their last 10 games in the league and only one of their last five, so it doesn’t bode well for them to be playing a United side trying to finish the season as strongly as possible.

Meanwhile, United booked their place in the FA Cup final after beating Brighton at Wembley on Sunday. The Reds will face Man City at the same venue on June 3.

BBC pundit Chris Sutton believes Erik ten Hag’s side will come out on top in London tonight.

“I really fancy Manchester United here,” Sutton wrote for BBC Sport before predicting a 3-1 win for United.

“Tottenham just capitulated against Newcastle and they are in such a mess that they have just fired their interim manager, Cristian Stellini.

“If Newcastle had continued scoring at the same rate they did in the first 21 minutes, then they would have ended up winning 22-0. Will Spurs bounce back, after one of the most gutless displays I have ever seen? I am not convinced.

“United were fortunate to get through their FA Cup semi-final with Brighton. I enjoyed the game and how it panned out, and Erik ten Hag’s side were quite effective on the break. I don’t see them scoring as many as Newcastle did, but I definitely don’t think Tottenham will keep a clean sheet.

“I am sure Spurs won’t be as bad as they were on Sunday, but I just can’t back them at the moment.”

You would ought to be crazy to back United and Sutton isn’t a pundit who is usually complimentary about the Reds.

None of their players were up for the fight against Newcastle as they looked a side ready to throw in the towel.

It goes without saying that Spurs are underdogs tonight.
