Manchester United target David Raya speaks out about transfer links

Brentford goalkeeper David Raya has registered his desire to play in the Champions League amid speculation over his future at the London side after being linked with a host of top clubs, including Manchester United.

Raya will soon enter the final 12 months of his contract at Brentford and the Spaniard admitted earlier this year that he had rejected two contract offers from the club. Thomas Frank knows that it will be difficult to keep hold of the shot stopper this summer.

When asked about rumours linking him to United, Tottenham and Chelsea, Raya admitted that he is flattered by the interested.

“Obviously it’s nice to hear that clubs are after you and asking about you and looking for you,” Raya told the Yours, Mine, Away! podcast, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “These clubs are the biggest in the world and every player wants to play for these clubs and everything.

“I have a year left and I don’t know what will happen in the summer. I’ve said before that I’ve had two contracts that I’ve turned down because they weren’t the offers I was looking for.

“I want to push myself to the highest level to the Champions League, the Europa League and to win those trophies. I want to experience that and I’m at that stage in my footballing career.”

With talks of David de Gea edging closer to a new deal at Manchester United, this is likely to push back suggestions that United could move for a new keeper like Raya.

It may be a chance for Chelsea to sign yet another goalkeeper.

De Gea will have to agree terms over a new deal first but there has been suggestions that an agreement will be reached soon.
