Everton manager Sean Dacha admits that the best team won as his side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

The Red dominated the visitors at Old Trafford, but the 2-0 scoreline doesn’t reflect well on the game itself because United could have won 3, 4 or 5-0.

Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial found the back of the net to secure three points as United consolidated their place in the race for top four.

United registered 21 shots in the first-half but were nowhere near clinical enough to put Everton away before the break.

Speaking to Match of the Day after the match, Everton boss Dyche gave an honest assessment of the match (via Manchester Evening News): “Too many mistakes against a food side. A side that has been very good here (at Old Trafford). They deserved the win. Sometimes you hold your hands up. Particularly in the first-half, although we gave them so many chances and opportunities for not doing the basics. I think we are bringing resilience to it, and a lot of it was self-inflicted. Self-inflicted from straight balls and not into the game straight away. On the other hand, some great last ditch saves from Jordan Pickford.

“We quelled it somewhat in the second-half, but overall the best team won.”

Everton didn’t play like a typical Dyche side today. United found it far too easy to get in behind but sadly we didn’t take our chances.

It could have been 3, 4 or 5-0 at half-time never mind full-time.
