Preview: Manchester United vs Brentford – Time to bounce back

Manchester United will be looking at getting back to winning ways when they take on Brentford in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St James Park on Sunday, whilst the visitors drew 3-3 with Brighton at the Amex last weekend.

Erik ten Hag is widely expected to make changes to his starting eleven to face Brentford with Jadon Sancho, Fred and Anthony Martial all likely to feature.

Having suffered a set back at the weekend Ten Hag will be desperate to make amends when the Reds take on Brentford on Wednesday night. Truth be told, United are still in a great position to finish inside the top four but Sunday’s defeat has threw a spanner in the woodworks. In facing Brentford on Wednesday night it provides the Reds an opportunity to bounce back quickly.

Brentford have enjoyed a brilliant season thus far under head coach Thomas Frank and currently sit in 7th place. The visitors could easily finish inside the Europa League places this season and having already beaten United earlier in the season Ten Hag will be fully aware just of difficult of an opponent Brentford will be.

Games involving Brentford tend to be usually lively affairs and I expect it to be no different on Wednesday night. The Bees will likely give it a real go against United, but that I feel in many ways could be their downfall. Despite their promising form and attacking talent going forward defensively they are not quite so strong and if Rashford, Fernandes and co turn up and play to their potential like we know they can then we still should have too much quality for the visitors and take all three points.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Brentford
