Louis Saha urges Man United to sign £44m France international

Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha has urged his old club to ‘explore’ the possibility of signing Barcelona and France winger Ousmane Dembele.

Dembele, 25, has yet to agree to a new contract with Barcelona and with his current one set to expire next year, this summer could see the France international leave Nou Camp.

Although he joined the Catalan giants from Borussia Dortmund back in 2017, after both clubs agreed to an eye-watering £140m fee, Dembele remains in the sport’s top 10 most expensive players of all time now.

However, despite his massive price tag, the 25-year-old has struggled for consistency due to several injuries and fitness-related problems since his move six years ago. Consequently, the winger, as per Transfermarkt, has missed a total of 133 matches.

Surprisingly, irrespective of the Frenchman’s shocking injury record, Saha believes he is worth taking a gamble on and has urged Erik Ten Hag to consider activating his released clause, which is understood to be a relatively modest £44m.

“They should explore it as it would be a bargain,” Saha told Betfred as quoted by Metro.

“I would want players that would be a guaranteed success for Manchester United and with Dembele, you’re going to get goals, you’re going to get assists but for me, he hasn’t reached his full potential and that’s frustrating to see.

“I see him as a potential wasted talent because the guy is so good and there’s no other player like him. When you look at the likes of Jadon Sancho and Ousmane competing with each other, then that’s magic competition there, oh my god. It would be a sensational frontline.”
