Inter target Manchester United defender with £31m bid enough to complete deal

Inter Milan are expected to renew their interest in Manchester United centre back Victor Lindelof as the Serie A side prepare for a defensive overhaul this summer.

It is believed the Serie A side made a loan offer for Lindelof in January, but it was rejected by Manchester United. Erik ten Hag was understandably unprepared to part ways with a centre-back when he doesn’t have a lot of depth in that department as things stand.

United are fighting on four fronts this season. We’ve won the Carabao Cup and we are still in the FA Cup and Europa League. There will be games when we need Lindelof to start or come off the bench.

According to The Sun, Inter Milan will make another offer for the Sweden international in the summer when the transfer window reopens. An offer of around £31 million is expected to be enough to complete the deal.

That said, I am not sure Inter will be throwing that much up front. It should be deemed optimistic to expect to an Italian side to pay that amount for Lindelof this summer.

Inter are expected to lose key centre-back Milan Skriniar to Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season. Stefan de Vrij may also leave the Serie A club in the summer when his contract expires.

Lindelof has made just 20 appearances for United this season, but he’s already captain of Sweden, and may be happy to fulfil a role in Ten Hag’s squad. I wouldn’t be against selling him for north of £25m, mind.
