Report: Manchester United U21s continue fine form in PL2 with win over Blackburn

Manchester United U21s were looking for another positive result in the Premier League 2, this time against Blackburn U21’s at home.

This is the starting XI that the manager fielded: Bishop, Jurado, Hardley, Murray, Gore (C), Iqbal, Forson, Hansen-Aarøen, Emeran & Hugill. Subs: Collyer, Mee, Meija, Jackson, Huddlestone.

The game started with a quick strike, but Bishop was right on point.

It was then Zidane Iqbal with two quick chances as the first went wide and then the other shot was high. United were mostly thinking on ball domination when Iqbal picked the ball up. Forson then back-heeled it as United took the lead.

At this point, United wanted to make every chance count and this time it was Jurado who blasted a quick shot over. Hansen-Aarøen then tried to beat the keeper to the ball, but Eastham was on point. It did not seem like Blackburn are not much into the game with it all being one sided. Jurado was trying to get a goal on his own given his freedom in the wing. Eventually, he did but it was given offside.

A brilliant run from Daniel Gore sets things through for Noam Emeran makes no mistakes and puts the ball in the right corner. It may have been more, but United lead 2-0 at half time.

In the second half, United were keeping the same pace and Jurado was brought down inside the penalty area, however the referee says play on. Against the run of play, Fyles gets a goal for Blackburn U21’s and suddenly they are well back in the game. It was Hugill with quick chances who could have closed everything for United, but the youngster had a soft touch and the keeper had it easy in both cases.

Then we see Forson back-heeling the ball again but no one was close enough to make that one count. Strangely, Blackburn are well in the game and the only real chance from United in those minutes was from Emeran but the shot is blocked. It is Forson again in the 88th minute who had a shot from just outside the box, but Eastham blocks it once again.

In the end, there was not much history as United won three points and continue their fine form in Premier League 2.
