Glazer family expected to sell full stake in Manchester United

Times are uncertain at Manchester United despite their growing confidence on the pitch, with Erik ten Hag’s revolution going swimmingly since he replaced Ralf Rangnick at the end of last season.

The Dutchman has overseen a stunning transformation of the team on the pitch and supporters are finally feeling attached to the players again.

Ten Hag’s appointment was one of several major changes at the club over the last 12 months and perhaps the biggest one is the Glazer family’s sudden change in stance in view of their ownership.

Late last year, United’s owners announced that they were open to investment, having previously been steadfast in their stance of not selling.

Since then, there has been endless speculation on who United’s new owners will be and whether the Glazer family are willing to give up all of their shares.

Now, there is an update on the story. According to the Daily Mail, the expectation is that when the sale process is started, it will be with a view to selling the entire club as opposed to a minority stake.

As per the report, early indications show that prospective buyers have shown more interest in buying the club as a whole rather than investing in a small piece.

Furthermore, it’s claimed that the sale of United will enter a more formal stage within the next three or four weeks – another sign that things may move quickly from here.

SN’s verdict…
The news of a potential full takeover will be celebrated by the Old Trafford faithful and from a supporter’s viewpoint, that day can’t come soon enough.

The club has been neglected since the Glazer family first entered the fray in 2005 and with United’s revival certainly up and running on the pitch, the next step is to catch up with the rest of football off it.
