Erik ten Hag involved in meeting with Marco Reus’ agent

In a surprising transfer update, it has emerged that Manchester United could sign Marco Reus on a free in the summer.

These links sound a bit far-fetched, but we are sure a move to Old Trafford would be more appealing to the Borussia Dortmund star than the Middle East. Reus’ contract will expire in June unless he signs an extension with the Bundesliga club.

Reus, 33, was once tipped as one of the best players in the world. Sadly for Borussia Dortmund and Germany, the winger’s career suffered many setbacks due to injury and it would be fair to say he never reached his full potential.

According to German journalist Christian Falk, as per Caught Offside, United ‘are an option’ for Reus.

Falk claims the player’s agent, who was pictured watching United’s 2-1 win in the Manchester Derby last weekend, held a meeting with Ten Hag.

Reus was one of the topics that reportedly interested Ten Hag, however, no formal offer was made and we’ll likely have to wait until his contract expires to know how the German international plans to move on from Dortmund.

Certainly, a move for Reus would be an interesting one, but he would likely come in as a squad player. The question I have is, should we be developing younger players instead of signing injury prone wingers in their 30s?

Let us know in the comments how you would feel if United sign Reus on a Bosman in the summer.
