Manchester United appear to be edging closer to clinching the transfer of Netherlands striker Wout Weghorst, who reportedly missed training with Besiktas today.

It is believed that Manchester United have a full agreement over a move to sign Weghorst on loan, as per Fabrizio Romano, who has also confirmed reports from Turkey that he missed training on Wednesday.

United will pay Besiktas €3m to end his loan in Turkey.

Turkish reporter Gokmen Ozcan was first to say Weghorst had missed training today, which could be a move to avoid any knocks or injuries ahead of his potential switch.

Weghorst looks set to be Erik ten Hag’s stop-gap option between now and the end of the season.

An impressive end to the season for Weghorst could even see him earn a better deal at Old Trafford. That’s when he could become a very good Plan B option to have on the bench.

Meanwhile, ESPN has linked United with three strikers this summer such as Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko.
