Atletico Madrid reject Manchester United’s opening offer for Joao Felix

It is no secret that Joao Felix’s future at Atletico Madrid is in serious doubt. A fresh report claims that the La Liga outfit rejected Manchester United’s opening offer for the 23-year-old.

According to The Mirror, Atletico Madrid want £9.5 million as a loan fee, on top of a commitment to buy at £70.5 million.

The Portugal international has fallen out with Atleti manager Diego Simeone and it sounds like their relationship has reached a point of no return – four years after his record move from Benfica.

It is suggested that United are one of the frontrunners to sign Felix, with Ten Hag in desperate need to bolster his attack if his team are to finish the season strongly.

The Mirror states that United have stepped up their pursuit to sign Felix.

Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has held a meeting with Atleti’s CEO Miguel Angel Gil on Thursday to present United’s initial offer of a straight loan amounting to £3m, along with a commitment to cover the player’s wages during his time at the club. That offer was rebuffed.

Other reports suggest that United are trying to sign Wout Weghorst, who is currently on loan at Besiktas from Burnley.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal will make a move for Felix after being linked with the Portuguese forward.
