Preview: Manchester United vs Everton | FA Cup third round

Manchester United will be looking to book a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup when they take on Everton at Old Trafford on Friday night.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League, whilst the visitors were beaten 4-1 by Brighton at Goodison Park.

Marcus Rashford is widely expected to keep his place in the starting eleven after scoring in each of the Reds last two fixtures whilst Alejandro Garnacho could also feature.

Having started the new year on a high, Erik ten Hag will be keen to keep the winning momentum going when the Reds take on Everton on Friday night. The FA Cup may have taken a back seat in recent years but it still footballs most historic cup competition and it also gives United a chance to finally win some silverware. This is something the club has not done since 2017.

Everton themselves have endured a poor season thus far under Frank Lampard and currently find themselves sitting in the relegation zone in 18th place. Everton are all over the place at the moment and given the Toffees poor form of late this is a game you would expect United to win.

Truth be told you couldn’t really have picked a better time to play Everton. Games against the Toffees in the past have usually been close affairs but given the visitors recent struggles and with United in fine form you would expect nothing less than a Reds victory here.

Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Everton
