Jack Butland set to join Manchester United on loan for rest of the season

Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Jack Butland on loan.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Crystal Palace goalkeeper is scheduled to have a medical today and will join the Red Devils for the remainder of the season.

This decision comes after Newcastle decided to recall Martin Dubravka on Sunday.

However, it may come as a slap in the face for Tom Heaton, who seemingly cannot be trusted as second choice goalkeeper.

It is unlikely that Butland, 29, will be registered in time for Friday night’s FA Cup third round tie against Arsenal.

After making 15 appearances for Palace last season, Butland has not played all season but it looks like Erik ten Hag still fancies him more than Heaton. Hopefully the latter gets to make his second debut for the club against Everton or Charlton in the upcoming cup games.

However, Butland’s contract at Palace expires in the summer and he could then join United on a free transfer. That makes this deal one to watch for the future.
