Julen Lopetegui believes United are improving under Erik ten Hag

Julen Lopetegui has been speaking to the media before Wolves’ host Manchester United on Saturday.

The new Wolves manager was able to deliver positive injury news with Jonny and Boubacar Traore ready to play, while Daniel Podence is also fit after having to be substituted against Everton on Boxing Day.

Wolves have already sealed the loan signing of Matheus Cunha from Atletico Madrid, but it remains to be seen if he will be registered in time to face United.

When it came to discussing Manchester United, Lopetegui told reporters (via BBC Sport): “They are one of the best teams, not only in England and have improved a lot in the last months. They are a very complete team with and without the ball so we have to be ready to beat them.”

It is with credit to Ten Hag that United are showing signs of improving since the beginning of the season, and we can only hope it continues into the future. Ten Hag has stressed on multiple occasions that he wants to win trophies at Old Trafford – something we haven’t done in almost six years.

However, Lopetegui has made an instant impact at Molineux after recording two wins in as many games. With that sort of form he will be able to transform the mood ahead of their first real test on New Year’s Eve against United.

It is believed that the World Cup break gave the Spaniard extra time to hit the ground running immediately as he took the squad to a training camp in Marbella.

Wolves spent over £100 million in the summer only to stagnate under Bruno Lage.

They will be aiming to recruit better under Lopetegui.
