Marcus Rashford sends message to Jesse Lingard after Old Trafford return

Jesse Lingard got a great reception when he returned to Old Trafford as a Nottingham Forest player on Tuesday night.

Not only was Lingard greeted warmly by the home fans, former Manchester United teammates Marcus Rashford and David de Gea took some time out to welcome him back.

Lingard, who spent over 20 years at United, doesn’t need an introduction around here. He made 232 appearances for the club after coming through the academy. He left in the summer following the expiry of his contract.

The England international admitted sadness and frustration over the nature of his departure – but he got the warm goodbye he would’ve hoped for last night.

After the match, Rashford posted a picture of himself talking to Lingard with the caption: “More than just a friend, Good to see you bro.”

Lingard faces an uncertain future at Nottingham Forest after signing a one-year deal in the summer. He could be one of many players set to leave the club if they suffer relegation from the Premier League.
