Manchester United linked Jonathan David open to Premier League move

Lille striker Jonathan David has opened the door to signing for a Premier League club.

The Canada international has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past and it’s no secret that Erik ten Hag will be in the market for a new striker.

That said, recent reports suggest that if United are to make any moves in January, it’s more than likely going to be a loan deal.

Cody Gakpo is on the verge of joining Liverpool so that’s one target we can definitely rule out. And, if United continue to miss out on Erik ten Hag’s targets, it won’t be long before someone like David becomes a real possibility.

Speaking to la Voix du Nord, David made it very clear that he wants to join a club in the Premier League, saying: “I think it’s possible, very possible. I don’t know if I can find myself anywhere other than the Premier League.

“It could well be the Premier League. It’s a very nice atmosphere.”

Not only is it a nice atmosphere – but it’s where footballers and managers alike get the biggest contracts to play on the biggest stage.

David’s future was thrown into further doubt recently when Lille head coach Paulo Fonseca gave potential suitors pause for thought.

“It will be difficult to keep Jonathan David at the club next season,” Fonseca admitted, as quoted by the Daily Mirror. “There are not many strikers with his skills and numbers in Europe… he’s just 22.

“I think top European clubs will try to sign Jonathan David.”
