Alvaro Morata remains an option for Manchester United

Manchester United are restricted to the loan market in January.

That is mostly as the result of the biggest football club in the world spending 17-years of being ran into the ground by the Glazer family.

Thankfully, it feels like their time has come to sell up, but I won’t be getting too giddy until I see that they no longer have any involvement with my beloved football club.

A report from ESPN suggests Ten Hag is ‘frustrated’ that United could not afford to compete for Cody Gakpo’s signature, with the PSV Eindhoven on the verge of joining Liverpool in the New Year.

The report also claims that United are keen on Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, as long as the Spanish giants are willing to listen to loan offers. That just proves that the Glazers are giving Ten Hag little to nothing to spend in January.

It only puts extra pressure on Ten Hag to get results because we are currently relying on Anthony Martial to stay fit for the remainder of the season. On another note, I think Marcus Rashford is better playing on the left flank and granted a licence to cut in centrally.

Morata, 30, previously spent two seasons at Chelsea but struggled to make an impact. Those in west London will probably label him a flop for his time at Stamford Bridge, but there is no denying that he is a hard-working option to have in attack and would probably suit Ten Hag’s style of football.

The Spain international managed just 24 goals during his time in England.

This season, Morata has scored five goals in 20 games for Atletico Madrid – with all of them coming in La Liga. He also netted three times in four games at the World Cup this winter.

Let us know in the comments section if you think United should try to sign Morata on loan for the rest of the season.
