Manchester United open talks to sign PSV Eindhoven star

Manchester United are moving towards launching a pursuit to sign Cody Gakpo.

According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have opened talks with PSV Eindhoven over a move for the highly-rated Cody Gakpo.

The Netherlands starlet has been on Manchester United’s radar for months but after starring at the World Cup in Qatar, it sounds like the Red Devils are trying to beat everyone to the race for his signature by looking at doing a deal to sign the forward in January.

It is understood by the newspaper that United are looking at the deal from an opportunistic point of view after discovering that the Dutch side have financial problems.

In turn, United could secure a cut-price deal of £50m for Gakpo, which would be a great bit of business – at a time we could do with adding to our goalscoring department.

After losing Cristiano Ronaldo last month, it will surely become a priority for Ten Hag to bolster his attack with a goalscorer.

Gakpo has been putting away goals not only in the Eredivisie this season, but also at the World Cup for the Netherlands – making him an ideal candidate when you look at the current market.
