Louis van Gaal issued the perfect response to former Manchester United player Angel Di Maria’s comments.
The Argentinian branded Van Gaal “the worst” he’s worked under in his career, referencing their time at United in which Di Maria failed to ever live up to his hype.
His quality performances in red can be counted on one hand and after just one season at Old Trafford, he departed for Paris Saint-Germain.
Since his exit, the forward has been overly vocal regarding his time at United and his feelings towards the club and then-manager Van Gaal.
On Friday, the 34-year-old will reunite with Van Gaal as Argentina face the Netherlands in their World Cup quarter-final tie. A reporter broached the subject of Di Maria’s comments to the Dutchman, who replied in true Van Gaal fashion whilst sitting alongside former Red Memphis Depay.
Van Gaal’s response to Di Maria
He said: “Di Maria calling me the worst manager he has ever had? He’s one of the few players with this opinion. I’m really sorry about this and I find it sad he said this. Memphis had to deal with it too at Manchester [United], and now we kiss each other on the mouth.”
