Ed Woodward approached by interest parties over potential Man United sale

It’s been a busy week for Manchester United, with several big announcements rocking the world of football.

First, it was confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo would be leaving the club after an agreement was reached between the player and United to end his contract seven months early.

That decision came after the forward took part in a highly controversial interview with TalkTV host Piers Morgan, in which he was heavily critical of the club and manager Erik ten Hag. Later, it emerged that United’s owners, the Glazer family, were open to selling the club after 17 years of ownership.

Thus far, there have been rumours of potential buyers but nothing concrete yet. There is, however, a development involving a former senior official.

According to the Daily Mail, disgraced executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been approached by parties interested in acquiring United.

Woodward was in office at Old Trafford between 2013 and 2022, officially leaving his post in February this year after formally signing in 2021 following the collapse of the European Super League.

Details around Woodward’s potential role in any takeover are unknown but supporters are unlikely to welcome the possibility of Woodward being involved in any capacity.

Woodward replaced David Gill as United’s highest-ranked official beneath the owners but became a symbol of the club’s rapid demise since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
