Apple interested in buying Manchester United for £5.8bn

Apple are the latest company reportedly interested in buying Manchester United in a bid worth £5.8 billion.

The Glazer family announced plans this week to sell the club — caving into the demands of fans who have spent the past 17-years protesting against their dire ownership. Facebook and Amazon are two other technology companies with apparent interest.

But since there’s an ongoing battle with FSG and Liverpool to sell to the highest bidder, media outlets are running stories on who else could be interested in buying the Premier League’s biggest club.

According to the Daily Star, Apple CEO Tim Cook is keen to explore the opportunities owning United could provide — and will line up talks with the banks appointed to oversee the sale, including The Raine Group.

The Glazers will be aware that fellow businessmen across the world will be evaluating the brand over the coming months, so they won’t want to show that they are toxic to the brand, which they are…

That could prove tricky with anti-Glazer protests held at every home match this season.

Don’t believe everything you read about the sale of Manchester United because it won’t be long before Michael Knighton claims he’s interested in buying the club. Like that will happen!
