Sir Jim Ratcliffe will bid for Manchester United

When the Glazers announced that they were interested in selling Manchester United, fans across the world wonder whether British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe was still interested in owning a majority stake in the club.

This is one of Britain’s richest men and he has been a Manchester United fan all of his life. Ratcliffe has spoken in the past about it being a dream to own the club, but he went on record recently to say he didn’t believe the Glazers were interested in selling it.

That has changed. Now everyone knows the Glazers are looking to maximise profits and get out of town.

There is some reason to believe Ratcliffe is still interested in buying United.

According to The Telegraph, Ratcliffe and Ineos will table a fresh approach — although they are wary about overpaying as insiders suggest the Glazers want something in excess of £5 billion.

The report goes on to describe the interest as serious. He currently owns Nice in Ligue 1, which could become an issue since the two clubs would be unable to play against one another in European competition.

However, bidding is one thing. Having a bid accepted is another.

Ratcliffe has a lot of work to do in order to beat the other investors who are likely to be interested in buying Manchester United.
