Anthony Martial apologises following confrontation with youth player

Anthony Martial was alleged to have been involved in a coming together with Manchester United youngster Dan Gore last week.

The French forward made the headlines for the wrong reasons but we shouldn’t over-analyse a minor bust up in training when these are always likely to happen in competitive environments, especially when there is a ball to win.

According to the Guardian, Martial has since apologised to the teenager after he retaliated following a strong tackle from the 18-year-old, as a section of United’s squad continue to train during the World Cup.

Martial missed out on a place in the France squad and was not called up, despite Karim Benzema’s injury ahead of the tournament.

This will be an important period for Martial at Carrington because he has been unable to stay fit this season. Perhaps that is why he acted angrily to a strong challenge in training.

It is also suggested that Erik ten Hag informed Gore that challenging a first-team player should not occur in the session because of the risk of injury.

I’m sure they will get over it. These things happen in football.
