Facundo Pellistri agent hints at potential exit after World Cup

The agent of Facundo Pellistri has not shied away from speculation over his client’s Manchester United’s future by saying the Uruguayan winger could look for a move in January if he has a good World Cup in Qatar.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Edgardo Lasalvia told reporters, as per the Mirror: “I think that with a good World Cup, as we think it will have, his departure is imminent.”

Lasalvia added: “Facundo is going to be one of the best players in the world. I have no doubts. He has enormous potential. I saw him for the first time in Las Acacias when he was 10 or 11 years old.

“At that age, he already had technique in speed. Besides, he was good to watch. Do you know how many kicks they gave him? So many. There is a reason why Manchester United bought him.”

The controversial World Cup kicks-off tomorrow and Uruguay start their campaign against South Korea in just five days. Although Pellistri has not played any football for United this season, as he struggles for game time under Erik ten Hag, he is still expected to have a starting role for his country.

Pellistri spent last season on loan at Alaves in Spain, but didn’t impress and never gained a consistent place in the starting line-up. To make matters worse he has not yet been handed his United debut.

The plan was probably to loan him out in the summer until a calf injury prevented that. My reckoning is that the club should try that in January or sell if a good offer comes through the door.
