Manchester United make contact with Milan Skriniar’s entourage with Inter contract set to expire

Manchester United have reportedly enquired about the availability of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, a player that has been on our radar for several years.

The intriguing angle of this story is the fact that Skriniar has entered the final year of his contract and can speak to clubs outside of Italy in January.

Skriniar, 27, is among the highest-rated defenders in European football so it bound to attract interest from a number of clubs looking to pinch one of Milan’s biggest stars.

According to 90min, United have already made contact with Skriniar’s representatives and it is believed that Inter are concerned by clubs in the Premier League offering him a bigger pay package to leave the San Siro.

The Slovakia international has played every Serie A game this season and has been a constant figure in their side for years.

Vice-President and club legend Javier Zanetti is trying to remain hopeful that Inter can agree new terms with Skriniar.

“We are in talks to extend the contract as conversations are progressing well. We hope to get it done and signed soon,” Zanetti said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

United need a replacement for Varane

This may sound crazy because Raphael Varane has been outstanding this season, but Ten Hag can’t rely on the Frenchman long-term.

Time and time again, the former Real Madrid centre-back is out injured as is the case now. Luckily for the player he will return ahead of the World Cup but nobody here cares about that.

United have two matches this week and Ten Hag is being forced to use a weakened defence. There’s not a lot of fun in that unless you are the opposition.
