David de Gea breaks Premier League record for most minutes played

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea owns the record for most minutes played in Premier League history as per Opta.

The Spaniard reached the milestone at the weekend as United suffered a 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa. In doing so, he overtook former United keeper Ben Foster, who retired at Watford last season.

De Gea has been at Old Trafford since his 2011 transfer from Atletico Madrid. Throughout that time, he has played 506 games for United and managed 174 clean sheets.

The shot-stopper’s mileage clock ha reached 35,039 minutes in the Premier League and there are many more games to come this season. United take on Fulham this weekend in their last league fixture before the World Cup kicks-off in Qatar.

However, Spain manager Luis Enrique won’t be taking De Gea to the World Cup this winter.

De Gea should use the next few weeks to rest and plan for the future.

Question marks over De Gea’s future at Manchester United

Manchester United have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent months, with De Gea’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The club has an option to extend his deal by an additional year, although something will have to change since he is the top earning goalkeeper in the world. De Gea knows he won’t get the same salary elsewhere and Erik ten Hag may opt to look elsewhere for a number one.

That said, De Gea is playing well at the moment – even if he let us down against Villa on Sunday.

Are you f*cking nuts? Or you don’t know how to watch football???
The team didn’t defend against villa! Lindelof is not a defender!
The free kick its hard to save when its perfectly place near the post!
No united player knows how to place a free kick like this (except juan mata who already went to another club).
