Manchester United continue to monitor Diogo Costa as they eye De Gea replacement

Manchester United are sending their scouts to monitor Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

The Reds have already sent scouts numerous times to watch the 23-year-old in action for Porto, but will send them over to Portugal again in the coming days.

Costa is in fine form for his club and has been making a name for himself on some of the biggest stages; more recently the Champions League, where he has saved penalties in three consecutive games.

In their last European match, he saved two penalties in a minute. He has advanced to the knockout stages of the competition with Porto.

Fabrizio Romano updated the situation regarding United’s interest in the Portugal international on his YouTube channel, saying: “Man United have already sent their scouts multiple times to follow Diogo Costa and they plan to follow him again and again.

“He is really appreciated by Man United.”

David de Gea’s situation

The Spaniard has been a loyal servant to the Red Devils and is one of only two remaining players to have played under Sir Alex Ferguson.

His contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023 but United has the option to trigger an additional year. The club are currently undecided on De Gea’s future, but the 31-year-old would like to stay in Manchester.
