Manchester United have taken another step towards sealing their place in the next round of Europa League fixtures after they survived a scare to come out of Thursday’s game against Omonia with all three points.
The hosts took the lead with 10 minutes remaining of the first half and it didn’t look like United were going to find a way back into the game.
That prompted Erik ten Hag to make two changes at half-time, with his decision to bring on Marcus Rashford proving to be decisive after the Englishman played a part in all three goals in the second half.
Speaking after the game, Ten Hag has now reacted to the game and explained why United recovered from a ‘really bad’ 10-minute spell in the first half, arguing that it was ‘too static’.
"We were too static, we have to get behind the other team!"

“I think we started well, couple of chances,” Ten Hag told BT Sport after the game, as seen above. “And then unnecessary down, (the) mistake cannot happen, we have to take responsibility there. But then really bad 10 minutes and we have to learn from that.
“You let the crowd get alive and we have to avoid that and we know that now.”
Ten Hag also explained that he wanted to change more than one thing at half-time, naming the lack of movement as one of the reasons he wasn’t happy with the display.
“Some couple of things, especially more runs,” Ten Hag said. We were too static and we have to make the opposite movement to get behind and that’s also why we make two subs at that time and they had an impact.”
