Ajax position weakened by Antony’s willingness to leave

Manchester United have everything in place for the transfer of Ajax star Antony, at least when it comes to finding an agreement with the player himself, but the two clubs have yet to agree on the Brazilian’s valuation.

According to Miguel Delaney of The Independent, the only thing now is to agree a fee with Ajax since Antony has begun putting pressure on his present club to sell him to United.

Delaney reports: “United remain in pursuit of Antony, but Ajax have set a huge price of over £75m for a player with limited experience. The deal is now entirely dependent on the two clubs settling on a price, as virtually everything is agreed with the Brazilian international himself.”

The reliable journalist adds that Ajax’s position is weakened by Antony’s willingness to leave this summer, with the winger training on his own, but he also suggests that Ajax must bend on their price demands.

Antony to join before deadline day

United fans will be desperate to see more additions before transfer deadline day.

The team showed encouraging signs in last night’s 2-1 win over Liverpool, but that won’t give any of us room for comfort because we are still a hundred miles off where we need to be, in terms of challenging for the biggest honours.

You would hope that a signing like Antony would help boost our chances by significantly strengthening the attack.

The Brazil international has been part of two Eredivisie-winning teams in the past and that is the sort of experience I could see Erik ten Hag wanting to add to the squad.
