Manchester United are in talks to sign Fabian Ruiz this summer, according to reports in Italy.
It has been obvious this summer that Frenkie de Jong has been the priority target, but United will soon look to alternatives in the transfer market if the move for the Dutch midfielder breaks down.
That would be a huge blow to Ten Hag, missing out of one of his most sought-after targets, but that has happened to United managers before him. Hopefully we still some progress on that front in the coming days.
However, Calcio Napoli 24 claim that United have contacted the player and Napoli are frustrated that their player may be trying to orchestrate a move away, which is what happens if you let someone into the final year of their contract.
The 26-year-old could cost around €45m.
Various outlets (via Football Italia) reported earlier this summer that Ruiz had rejected the offer of an extension, even though Napoli have booked their place in the UEFA Champions League.
Like De Jong, the Spaniard is known for his pass volume, pass completion, progressive passes and carrying the ball forward.
Let us know in the comments section if you think Ruiz would be a good option for United.
