Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia.
As the deal nears completion, we have another update to bring you from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who broke the news last night that Malacia had agreed personal terms ahead of a move to Old Trafford.
This means Luke Shaw will finally have some competition at left-back because we’ve all learned that Alex Telles is not of the required standard for the Premier League. Hopefully Malacia has a different story at United as it would be great to see him push Shaw for a place in the starting line-up.
Malacia will fly to Manchester tomorrow to undergo the first part of medical tests, according to Romano, who adds that he will also sign a contract to officially become a United player.

Romano tweeted: “Tyrell Malacia will fly to Manchester on Sunday in order to undergo first part of medical tests and then sign the contract as new Manchester United player. Medical will be completed on Monday as club duties too, Malacia will sign until 2026-option for further season.”
The medical will be completed on Monday and Malacia will sign a deal until 2026, including an option for a further year.
SN’s verdict
I wasn’t happy with any of our full-backs last season. I suspected with Ten Hag’s arrival that we would see additions on both flanks in his first three transfer windows and we’re seeing at least one this summer.
What I didn’t expect was for him to prioritise left-back because Shaw is a lot better than the options available on the right.
Ultimately, we can’t wait to see Malacia in action on the pre-season tour this summer. He has a real chance in this United team.
