Manchester United agree fee with Premier League club over midfielder

Tuesday is turning out to be quite the busy day for Manchester United. Earlier, it emerged that the club were attempting to hijack Olympique Lyon’s deal to sign Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

Now, it has been suggested that there is some activity on the midfield front. Erik ten Hag’s priority this summer is to strengthen that area, with several senior departures leaving him light. Frenkie de Jong is his prime target and United are progressing in a deal to sign the 25-year-old.

Andreas Pereira is one of the players United could sell to raise funds for incomings and now, it’s being reported that the Brazilian is closing in on a move to newly-promoted Fulham.

That’s according to 90min, who say that the London club have been allowed to negotiate personal terms with the midfielder after a fee was agreed with United.

Pereira is currently on loan at Flamengo but his season-long arrangement is due to expire next week and although the Brazilian club are keen on keeping him, it now looks like this Thursday’s game against Tolima could be his final appearance.

SN’s verdict…
United are not working with an unlimited budget this summer and Ten Hag will want to maximise his transfer kitty as he prepares for sizeable surgery on his side.

The Dutchman will likely want to strengthen most areas and generating cash flow through sales will be crucial to those plans. Pereira’s sale, with one year left on his contract, could boost United’s hopes of adding quality to the squad.

  1. It is great new for Man.U for signing De jong and company but there remains a question of adaptation to Premier League. They are now sufficiently covered in Midfield with Dejong Mactomany ,Fred and Fernandes. They have top top quality. The league is theirs to lose.

    1. You and United are miles off… United will need 8 players to push for top 4 Regardless of what signings are made….. Even if we filled our squad with 600million worth of pure quality players right now it would still take a season just to get the managers style and then another two seasons (probably) to gel, build some chemistry / telepathy… Its a bigger task than most think.. Frighteningly, the glazers are among that group…….

  2. Good business to sell Perreira but why didn’t they sell Lingard who is going away for free?
Also astonishing is that United chiefs tried to entice Pogba for £300 000 per week when he had underperformed for 5 years. He deserved £ 30 000 per week. I respect Paul for walking away.

  3. We don’t want to hear close in on any player, all we want to hear is medical and signature of incoming players.
We need at least six new players in Old Trafford.

  4. Man utd is like thunder, thunder but no rain. NATO, no action, talks only. Really all rubbish we read everyday

  5. Fans are living on the history of A,F, when fergi came to utd we were worse off then than we are now. He took 3 years before he won his first trophy the GA CUP the rest is history.
So let’s take it one step at a time n we will rise again just like the phoenix did.

  6. At this point in time, it is worrying to see that Man U has yet to sign new players of caliber! Is it because of the aftermath of failing to qualify for Uefa Champion League or lack of “shrewd hunters”. At any rate with a proven coach and with some world class players, such as CR , Man U should be able to sign some new players who can make the difference. A well-defined role for CR could help
