Man United showing no interest in signing 25-year-old Premier League midfielder

Despite being heavily-linked with several clubs, Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves is one player who doesn’t look to be on the move this summer.

That’s according to a recent report from The Athletic, who claim no club has yet to make a formal offer for the playmaker – suggesting he could remain at Molineux next season.

United, who are clearly on the lookout for at least one new central midfielder following the exits of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic, was rumoured to be eyeing Neves (Birmingham Live).

Speaking about the possibility of seeing their number eight leave the Midlands this summer, manager Bruno Lage, who spoke to reporters at the end of last season, as quoted by Football London, said: “We need to be aware of everything, anything can happen, not just with Ruben but with any position.

“He’s an important player but, like I said, we need to wait for an offer and we need to wait to understand what will really happen. Something that is good for the club, good for the player, and then we will make a decision.”

However, despite taking a look at Neves in action, it would be fair to say that Erik Ten Hag’s 20-time league winners are too busy prioritising Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong and free-agent Christian Eriksen to up their pursuit of Wolves’ Portugal international.

Since joining Wolves from Porto back in 2017, Neves, who has two years left on his contract, has gone on to feature in 212 matches, in all competitions, directly contributing to 36 goals along the way.
