Fabrizio Romano claims Ajax are waiting on Jurrien Timber’s final decision amid United links

Ajax starlet Jurrien Timber has been getting a lot of publicity for his performances over the past year. It comes as no surprise that with Erik ten Hag moving to Manchester United, the Dutch coach would want to take a player with him who has tons of potential, and the 21-year-old certainly fits the bill.

For starters, Timber is a ball-carrying defender, who can play a number of positions like right-back and midfield, but the Netherlands international is arguably best at centre-back or on the right side of a back three.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Timber looks set to stay at the Eredivisie champions for another year, with Ajax ready to offer him a new deal.

Ten Hag’s former club must wait for Timber’s final decision.

Meanwhile, Romano adds that Ajax won’t sell Timber and Lisandro Martinez in the same transfer window.

The reliable journalist took to Twitter, writing: “Jurrien Timber situation. There’s still no communication from player camp to Ajax on his future – Ajax will offer him a new deal as reported in May, they’re still waiting for his final decision.

“Of course, Ajax have no intention to sell both Timber & Lisandro Martinez.”

United still have time to act in the transfer market – but everything has been delayed due to the potential Frenkie de Jong deal.

Hopefully we see significant process on other signings.
