Jurrien Timber representation in England for Manchester United talks

If you are a Manchester United fan, you might be questioning the squad’s quality of depth at centre-back and midfield for next season now that we are about to lose more players as free agents.

One of the names being bandied about is Ajax centre-back Jurrien Timber, who is versatile enough to play at full-back as well as midfield. I’m not going to prematurely label him the Dutch John O’Shea, but we lack players comfortable enough to play in different roles in varying formations.

Ajax can demand a lot of money for Timber’s signature because he has a contract until 2024, but it sounds like the youngster is one of the players Erik ten Hag wants to bring with him from Amsterdam.

At 1.82 meters (5’10”), Timber relies heavily on speed and technique at centre-back rather than size and strength.

Also, at 20-years-old, it is important to note that Timber is still a prospect for the future, albeit a very talented one.

Timber has been heavily linked with a move for Bayern Munich, so it will be interesting to see if the talks with his representation go as planned, with club insider Jonathan Shrager revealed what he knows via Twitter.

Shrager, who is a friend of Stretty News, tweeted: “At this moment, Timber to Manchester United is not done, and there is competition from other clubs, but Jurrien’s representation is currently in England to learn about MUFC’s plans.”

With United making initial moves to sign Timber, it’s clear that Ten Hag has listed the Netherlands international as one of his prime targets this summer. It would be an exciting signing because I could see Timber play a number of roles at United.
