Man Utd make Brandon Williams decision ahead of summer transfer window

Manchester United defender Brandon Williams spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Norwich and despite impressing in the season-long arrangement, he could end up departing Old Trafford this summer.

Erik ten Hag will officially start work as Manchester United’s next manager next week and the Dutchman is expected to be in the stands for this weekend’s game against Crystal Palace, with Ralf Rangnick to oversee the side one final time.

Williams broke into the first-team squad in 2019 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but has failed to dislodge Luke Shaw on the left flank and amid Ten Hag’s arrival, the club is now willing to listen to offers for the 21-year-old.

That’s according to CaughtOffside, who say that United have made the decision to listen to offers due to being unable to offer him playing time.

Norwich are expected to finish bottom of the table and despite their dismal return to the Premier League, Williams’ stocks have remained high and he should not find it difficult to find a suitor in England’s top tier.

SN’s verdict…
Luke Shaw has endured an indifferent season following his stellar 2020/21 campaign but the 26-year-old remains the first-choice, with Diogo Dalot able to play on that flank too.

Alex Telles is also just two years into his contract and is not expected to leave the club, leaving very little room for Williams to break into the side.

This summer could prove to be the perfect time to cash in on Williams, with the United hierarchy being infamously poor when it comes to player sales.
