(Video) Erik ten Hag says he can’t wait to work with Cristiano Ronaldo

Erik ten Hag is just days away from officially taking charge of Manchester United, with the Dutchman expected to be in the stands for this weekend’s Premier League curtain-closer against Crystal Palace.

Victory over Patrick Vieira’s side will put United on 61 points – their lowest-ever tally in the Premier League, leaving Ten Hag with a huge rebuilding job in the summer.

Earlier this week, there were suggestions that up to ten players could leave the club in his first summer but Cristiano Ronaldo, the club’s top scorer this season, is expected to fulfill his two-year deal.

Ronaldo has scored an impressive 24 goals for United this season and has now been complimented by United’s next manager, with Ten Hag insisting he ‘can’t wait’ to work with the 37-year-old.

“That was an interesting chat,” he said on Ajax’s official YouTube channel whilst reflecting on an on-pitch conversation he had with Ronaldo in 2019, as seen above.

“I think he could appreciate the way we played. He’s a true winner and a magnificent player. I can’t wait to work with him.

“I think it (the conversation) was about a decision the referee made that went our way. I made a joke about it.”
