Juventus not interested in 33 y/o Manchester United midfielder despite claims

Juventus could sign Nemanja Matic on a free transfer this summer, but one Italian reporter has rubbished recent claims by stresses that the Serie A giants are not interested in signing the Manchester United midfielder.

The Serbian midfielder recently announced he would be leaving Old Trafford this summer in a post on social media.

That hasn’t stopped interim manager Ralf Rangnick from starting him in games and it seems strange that we would prioritise older players who are leaving the club over youngsters like Hannibal Mejbri, Alvaro Fernandez and Alejandro Garnacho.

Put it this way – I’d like to see a team of youngsters put a shift in, over a bunch of lads who are already thinking about where they will be playing next season.

According to the Daily Star, Juventus look set to sign Matic on a free transfer this summer, with the midfielder set to receive a £10m signing on fee.

Italian journalist Romeo Agresti, who covers Juventus closely, the Turin based club are not interested in signing the 33-year-old this summer.

The problem for United is that Matic won’t be the only midfielder to leave Old Trafford this summer. We will also see Paul Pogba leave when his contract expires in the summer and there is a chance he could end up at Manchester City.

That means Erik ten Hag will need to be in the market for at least two quality midfielders.
