Man United make change to confirmed line-up to face Brighton as defender taken ill

Manchester United have been forced to make a last-minute change to their side to face Brighton and Hove Albion in Tuesday evening’s Premier League match at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils, led by interim boss Ralf Rangnick, are preparing to host Graham Potter’s Seagulls in what is likely to be a tough encounter.

Despite sitting four places below United, Potter’s Brighton and Hove Albion are unbeaten in their last seven domestic matches.

Clearly in great form and becoming increasingly more difficult to break down, United undoubtedly face a challenge in overcoming the south coast outfit and their pre-match preparations have not been made easy.

Defender Raphael Varane had been named in Rangnick’s starting 11, however, with a little over 30-minutes to go before kick-off, the French centre-back has been ruled out through illness.

The news that Rangnick has been forced to replace Varane with Victor Lindelof was confirmed on the club’s official website.

Backup goalkeeper Tom Heaton will now be promoted to the substitutes bench.
