Nike drop Mason Greenwood sponsorship following arrest and bail

Nike have decided to terminate their deal with Mason Greenwood after the Manchester United forward was arrested and released on bail.

Greenwood, 20, was under police custody on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman. He was then arrested further on charges of sexual assault and making threats to kill.

On Wednesday, he was released on bail before Ralf Rangnick broke his silence over the situation. The interim manager didn’t hide away from the fact that his players were talking about it all week.

Nike initially decided to suspend their relationship with Greenwood when the news first emerged on social media.

But now, after further consideration, Nike has confirmed they will no longer sponsor Greenwood with a fresh statement released on Monday.

“Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete,” they told The Athletic.

Greenwood has also been removed by the FIFA 22 computer game.

Moreover, United will exchange your Greenwood 11 shirt free of cost, which is a pretty good move from the club.

  1. I’m surprised to see quite the rush to ostracise Greenwood considering he hasn’t even been charged yet.

  2. In todays world you cannot know how couples behave behind closed doors.
Maybe their kinky antics got out of hand. Maybe he was thinking of moving on. Perhaps it is as it seems and Greenwood deserves the full letter of the law thrown at him. No matter how it ends cannot see him ever playing at a high level again
