John Terry congratulates Harry Maguire on breaking England record

Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has overtaken Chelsea legend John Terry in the England all-time goalscoring charts.

The centre-back has been in abysmal form so we will be hoping a positive international break, which saw him score headers in both games against Albania and San Marino, helps him rediscover his form for United.

Maguire, 28, has been heavily criticised for his performances this season and former United captain Roy Keane called his celebration “embarrassing” after scoring against Albania when he cupped his ears.

Tonight’s goal against an awful San Mario side, on the receiving end of a 10-0 thrashing, saw Maguire overtake John Terry with a goalscoring record of 7 goals for England as a centre-back.

Terry took to Twitter to congratulate Maguire on beating his record, though deep down we know he’s probably going to have a sleepless night over it whilst wearing his favourite kit and shin guards.

“HarryMaguire93 Congratulations mate @England Highest scoring defender,” Terry tweeted. “Let’s see if a few of these pundits talk about that.”

The 10-0 win over San Marino secured England’s place in next year’s World Cup as group leaders.
