Tottenham Hotspur interested in £40.5m-valued Man Utd attacker

Anthony Martial has endured a nightmare 12 months at Manchester United. After ending the 2019/20 campaign as the club’s player of the year, he struggled for the entirety of the next campaign.

He scored just four goals in the league and now finds himself at a crossroads at Manchester United. The additions of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo certainly won’t have helped his case either.

The 25-year-old came under fire for his performance against West Ham in this week’s Carabao Cup fixture, and there had previously been claims that Manchester United had given the player the green light to find a new club.

Now, there are reports of interest from Tottenham Hotspur in United’s French striker. Martial is valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt and according to the Daily Express, Tottenham are keen on engineering a swap deal.

At the end of the season, Martial will have two years remaining on his contract at Manchester United, which will force the club into negotiating over his future.

Following the debacle of potentially losing Paul Pogba on a free transfer next summer, the club will be happy to avoid such a scenario with another Frenchman.
