Man Utd star’s performance showed why club has given player ‘green light’ to find new club

Manchester United are out of this season’s Carabao Cup after succumbing to defeat against David Moyes’ West Ham. The visitors took the lead early in the game and managed to hold on for their first victory at Old Trafford since 2007.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer named a much-changed starting eleven for the encounter, with Anthony Martial making just his second start of the season.

Earlier this week, reports claimed that Manchester United officials have given the player the green light to find a new club. The additions of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo won’t have helped the Frenchman in his bid to regain his spot and he could now be surplus to requirements.

After a promising start to his career at the club, Martial’s influence on the pitch has wained and he now finds himself on the brink of being axed – at least that’s what it looks like from the outside.

His performance against West Ham showed that with BBC pundit Dion Dublin slamming the 25-year-old following the final whistle.

Martial was typically immobile against the Hammers and his performance will do little to force Solskjaer into a rethink over his future.

The former Monaco star is still fairly young and could very well have a promising career ahead of him but his outing against West Ham epitomized the recent reports surrounding his future.
