Khabib Nurmagomedov says Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘much cooler’ than Lionel Messi

Earlier in the week, we covered comments from former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov on Cristiano Ronaldo’s sensational return to Manchester United. By the Russian fighter’s own admission, Ronaldo had let slip that a return to Old Trafford was on the cards ‘a month ago’.

Clearly, the two sporting icons are fairly close, and now Khabib has outlined why he thinks Ronaldo chose to leave Serie A behind in favour of a move to England.

“I don’t want to disclose any personal messages. Ronaldo said he was bored in Italy and wanted to go back to England,” Khabib is quoted as saying by Sport24, cited by RT. “I’m also not a fan of Italian football, [but] the English Premier League I won’t switch over. Any team there can put on a show.”

The age-old debate of who is the better player out of Lionel Messi and Ronaldo remains till this day and although it’s unlikely we’ll ever reach common ground, Khabib has revealed who he prefers.

Cristiano is much cooler, I think,” he is quoted as saying by Sport24 again, via RT. “Messi is one of the best in history. But if in the game they’re equal, then in charisma Cristiano is more powerful.”

Ronaldo was granted early release from the Portugal camp this week due to a suspension, which allowed the 36-year-old to begin preparations in Manchester earlier than expected. He could make his second debut for the club next weekend as Manchester United welcome Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United to Old Trafford.
