Khabib Nurmagomedov says Cristiano Ronaldo told him about Man Utd move ‘a month ago’

Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo told him about his transfer to Manchester United as early as one month ago. The Russian superstar is an avid Real Madrid supporter and has often been vocal in his support of Ronaldo.

Earlier in the week, Ronaldo completed a sensational return to Manchester United as he rejoins the club, 12 years after leaving for Real Madrid for a then world-record fee.

The homecoming was, however, far from comfortable for the Old Trafford faithful. At one point, a move to Manchester City looked to be dangerously close.

“A month ago, he told me that he was moving to Manchester United,” Khabib said at the New Knowledge Marathon, according to RT.

I expected this deal to take place. I think that Manchester United is more suitable for him than Juventus. For me, the transition was not a surprise.”

The comments from Khabib will be music to the ears of Manchester United supporters, with a potential move to Manchester City now even more inconceivable. If Khabib is truthful in his admission, it further confirms that Ronaldo had no intention of moving to the blue side of Manchester.

After helping his Portugal side to a 2-1 victory over Ireland, Ronaldo was released early from international duty as he eyes up a potential second debut against Newcastle on September 11.
