Earlier this week, you might have been resigned to the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo would be stepping out at Old Trafford wearing a sky blue top at some point this season.

The 36-year-old was suggested to be dangerously close to completing a move to Manchester City but instead, he decided against it and opted for a sensational reunion with Manchester United.

Manchester United have announced that an agreement has been reached with Juventus for his transfer, with completion of the deal being subject to personal terms, medical and a visa.

A deal has yet to be completed officially but Ronaldo has already received a warm welcome, as the picture above shows. The image, taken at Manchester Piccadilly station, seems to poke fun at Manchester City’s banner of Carlos Tevez after his switch across the two clubs in 2009.

The message, which reads ‘Welcome to Manchester’, is unlikely to reach to five-time Ballon d’Or winner but is a fitting sentiment.
