Andy Murray offers to be David de Gea’s doubles partner at US Open

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea showed off his tennis skills via social media on Tuesday — leaving Andy Murray impressed enough to extend an offer to the Spaniard.

Tennis icon Andy Murray has appeared to offer himself as De Gea’s doubles partner for the upcoming US Open.

The clip upload by De Gea, as seen below, shows him executing a point-winning drop shot in a doubles game against United teammates Juan Mata and Andreas Pereira.

He asked Twitter if he was ready for an invite to the US Open: “Almost ready for the @usopen. Am I in time to get an invite?”

Murray swiftly replied: “If you need a pair of doubles, I am here.”

De Gea, who will be challenged by Dean Henderson for the No.1 spot at United this season, took no time in replying: “Date and time please!”

The US Open gets underway on Monday, August 30, and De Gea will be busy with his football as United look to continue their perfect start to the season after beating Leeds 5-1 last weekend.
