Raphael Varane will not wear No.4 at Manchester United next season

Raphael Varane is expected to be officially announced as a Manchester United player this week, but the former Real Madrid defender won’t be wearing the number 4 shirt as many expected.

After arriving in the UK and quarantining, the former Real Madrid star began his medical at Carrington, and granted all goes to plan he will be able to train with his new teammates this week.

Sources have told Stretty News that Varane will not wear Phil Jones’ number 4 shirt next season.

In fact, the number he will wear has been described to us as “unexpected” and it won’t be until the official announcement is made that we all know what number Varane will be modelling next term.

We are hopeful that Varane can feature against Leeds in the Premier League opener this weekend, but that is a decision for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make.

Solskjaer has significantly strengthened the team defensively and we shouldn’t leak as many goals from set-pieces this term. United conceded a whopping 18 goals from set-pieces and that issue needs to be addressed before we can mount a proper title challenge.

Let us know in the comments what number you think Varane will be wearing next season?

  1. I don’t see why Jones still has to remain in this team. Should have got rid of him way back

  2. Let ole give him no 4 shirt and sell Jones to Newcastle or loan him to any championship club that is interested

    1. No man, Ole’s fav is keeping players no matters if they’re bad or worse. His man management is the worst on planet. For example of Martiel should be sold to give cavani no 9 then sancho no 7. Martiel possible swap with halaand but both glazer and ole did not want to sell him as compare to pele which make me speechless.

      1. Nothing to do with Ole he was shocked and quite annoyed with the board wanting to keep Jones on the choice was taken out of his hands . Hopefully Westham renew their interest

  3. Utd haven’t officially signed Varane yet, talk about dragging things out and to top it all off they can’t even say to Jones “guess what phill your not part of Manchester United’s first team plans, give your agent a bell and go earn your wages elsewhere instead of lounging around the physios room.”

Just scrub Jones from the squad and when Varane finally signs voila you have a number, easy
